A complete tour of scenic spots and springs by bicycle

Minamiaso is full of scenic sights such as the five peaks of Aso and natural springs that pump out crystal-clear water. The village tourism association has plotted two cycling courses that tour these must-see destinations. Asobo no Sato Kugino Roadside Station rents out whatever type of bike you will need, from road bikes to city bikes to kids' bikes.

Follow your fancy to find each vista

The biggest advantage to getting around by bike is the ability to park it anywhere and go places difficult to access by car. Enjoy the freedom of movement and get right up close to free-range Akaushi wagyu cattle, or immediately snap a shot of some scenery that catches your eye.

The two courses Minamiaso village recommends are the Minamiaso Springs Course that tours the Shirakawa Spring and other famous springs, and the Aso Panorama Line South Course that provides a sweeping view of the Aso mountain range. The Springs Course features modest elevation changes and is well-suited for amateur cyclists. At 26.6 km in length, you can take your time travelling around each destination. Meanwhile the Panorama Line Course snakes through the Aso Caldera mountain range for scenic views and a workout best suited for intermediate cyclists. Regardless of which course you take, you're sure to encounter things in Minamiaso that will delight all five senses.
